I grew up in the West Country. After National Service in Germany, I worked in the ship-owning industry in Liverpool, Plymouth, London, the Far East, and Edinburgh. My wife and I then came back to the West Country and now live on Exmoor.

In the business world, I wrote a multitude of words. On my retirement, I decided to turn my writing to creative fiction. I first published independently a collection of 23 of my short stories titled 'Pebbles,' some of which have won prizes.

Since then, I have written and published four novels; the first 'Requiem for Private Hughes,' is set in the 1950's Malayan Emergency ad in West Somerset, the second, Birchland Hall,' is set in West Yorkshire, the third, 'Puffball Paradox,' is set on Exmoor and in Battersea, London and the fourth novel, 'The Register of Joe's Trees, an Anglo/American novel, is set in Suffolk, London, South Dakota, and Boston, USA.

I am now working on my next and fifth, novel, which has the working title of 'Daltonford Hall,' set in the West Country with links to Hong Kong.

My film script, 'Sandscape,' was directed and produced by Somerset Film and is available on YouTube.

I have contributed from time to time to 'Gone in Sixty Seconds,' GI60, the one-page script competition. So me of my entries have been performed in the UK and USA.
